Charity has No Color; It Embraces Everyone
The Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts – Immaculate Heart of Mary Province envision a growing fraternity of Sisters living joyfully in charity and simplicity responding to God’s call to serve the poor and the marginalized for the upliftment of humanity.
We, the fraternity of SFSC inspired by the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary are called for
* Recognize the realities of poverty and illiteracy, the abandoned, orphaned and the abused, and the environmental degradation;
* Uplift humanity THROUGH QUALITY EDUCATION, PROMOTION OF HUMAN DIGNITy, MORAL AND SOCIAL REHABILITATION AND REINTEGRATION
* ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING AND COLLABORATING WITH OTHER GROUPs OR ENTITIES IN ENVIRONMENT PRESERVATION.
* Have a sense of belongingness and family.
Thus, with strong faith and dedication, we commit ourselves with passion and love to the service of humanity, trusting in God and in His divine providence.
Fr. Simpliciano of the Nativity
FRANCISCAN SISTERS OF THE SACRED HEARTS
PHILIPPINE PROVINCE
Our Congregation, the FRANCISCAN SISTERS OF THE SACRED HEARTS, of pontifical rights, was founded in Rome, Italy by Father Simpliciano of the Nativity, OFM Alcantarine in 1886 and is affiliated to the Order of Friars Minor in 1951.
When Fr. Simpliciano was assigned in Rome in 1869, he worked in the Hospital of the Consolation.
Here he met young patients with syphilis.
Later in his constant encounter with these unfortunate women suffering from syphilis, they beg him to save them and help them to begin a new life. He assisted them and found a place for them where they can start a new life.
From these women our Congregation was born. From Rome, Fr. Simpliciano sent his daughters to the difficult areas of southern Italy.
He inculcated in them the earnest desire for missionary involvement.
The Congregation is present in Italy, Philippines, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Colombia, Polonia and Timor Leste.
The charismatic nature of our Congregation is concretized in the experience of Franciscan fraternity.
Our charism is manifested in the vigilant and constant openness and symphathetic hospitality towards the new forms of moral and social poverty.
We are to relive the same spirit of our Founder and following his examples in our contemporary world, we are to go beyond our frontiers and face the present challenges, wherever we are called to incarnate our charism.
Our distinguishing character is marked by a special affection and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a strong element in the Franciscan spiritual tradition. (see Cons. N. 3-7)
In the footsteps of our Founder, we are to continue witnessing the compassionate charity and merciful love of God for humanity.
A charity that does not exclude any misery; does not consider anyone a stranger, but embraces everyone and recognizes each one as a son or daughter, through rehabilitation, preventive, hospitality and educational apostolic missions.
The Philippine Province dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was erected in January 12, 2010 giving the chance for the Filipino sisters to manage the Congregation here in the Philippines. There are 15 fraternities in the Philippine.
For our mission work, we have 5 schools, 6 children’s centers, 2 retreat houses and a drop in center.
